SpecTool 2.1 for Windows - Demo-Version
---------------------------------------

What is SpecTool ?
------------------
SpecTool is a Hypermedia application containing reference
data, reference spectra and computional tools needed for
the interpretation of molecular spectra. The information
units are connected by a network of links. This Hypermedia
network is like a series of books presentating the same
basic data along different lines of thoughts. Of course,
informations are not limited to text and data but includes
programs, graphics, animated graphics.

INSTALLATION
-------------
To load and run the program under MS-Windows, proceed
as follows:
- Ensure that you have 25 MB free on your hard disk.
- Download of the Zip file of SpecTool 2.1 Demo, preferably
  into its own directory.
- Expand the spectool.zip file (for example with Winzip).
  NOTE:
REMOVE OR DELETE THE ZIP FILE FROM THE DIRECTORY OF THE
EXPANDED FILES ! OTHERWISE THE INSTALLATION WILL FAIL!
- Set your screen resolution to VGA. This is not required,
but may improve clarity of the graphics.
- Run the install.exe and follow the instructions displayed.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
-----------------
1. Very high resolution SVGA display systems may cause
problems because the present version of SpecTool is
designed for VGA screen resolution (640x480) and SVGA
screen resolution at 600x800 or 1024x728. If you use
higher resolutions the bitmaps may look ugly. Try to
reduce the resolution of your system, perhaps by creating
a suitable startup batch file.

2. SpecTool2.1 uses bitmap fonts. On SVGA systems with
resolutions higher than 600x800 this may result in garbled
letters. Avoid this by setting the video driver to small
fonts.

3. After installation of SpecTool 2.1 under Windows95 it
may be that the fonts used by SpecTool are not immediately
active. A restart of Win95 solve this problem.

ADD-ON FOR SPECTOOL

SpecLib 1.0
-----------
SpecLib contains the 800+ spectra contained in SpecTool
plus additional 2.400+ spectra together with an extended
display module (>550 MS-, >550 H-NMR-, >550 C-NMR-,
>440 IR-, >1000 UV/VIS-spectra). The extended display modul
of SpecLib allows multidisplay of spectra (for comparision),
zooming and searching of spectra by name. Additional tools
like meassuring of coupling constants in H-NMR-spectra or
mass differences in mass spectra are included.
SpecLib does not include data import.

Structure Generator
--------------------
The Structure Generator Molgen (for Windows) or Assemble
(for Macintosh) generates all possible isomers from a given
Molecular Formula.
